I have made this handmade clay plaque / hanging ornament as a keepsake gift to give as  to a student midwife to be - or to treat yourself.

This clay placenta heart is a keepsake to honour your first 40 births! It’s not just to celebrate reaching a big milestone in your training - but also marking the beginning of your journey as a midwife, and all the lives you will touch in future.

For other 40 births gifts, cards and keepsakes see my full Student Midwife 40 Births Gift Collection 40 births gifts for student midwives.

Once the air dry clay was dried and varnished, I applied gold leaf to the placenta and the edges, and added a 40, and put a gold bell on with white macrame string (I know the bell is a bit random, but I just like jingly bells :D)

Delivered for free in the UK, wrapped with love in tissue with bonus freebies.

I also made out a little card to go with it that says:

Congratulations 40 Births

This token is a keepsake to honour your first 40 births! It’s not just to celebrate reaching a big milestone in your training - but also marking the beginning of your journey as a midwife, and all the lives you will touch in future.

If you'd like a note card with space to write a message, I have created a 40 births greetings card too.

What is a good gift for a student midwife reaching their 40 catches?

A handmade keepsake is a really meaningful way to mark the 40 births milestone. I made this hanging ornament specifically for that moment - something that can remind a newly qualified midwife of where their journey began.

What does 40 catches mean in midwifery?

Student midwives in the UK are required to attend and participate in a minimum of 40 vaginal births as part of their NMC training requirements. Reaching 40 deliveries is a significant milestone on the road to qualification.

Is this suitable as a gift or just for yourself?

Both! Many people buy this as a gift for a student midwife who has just reached their 40 births, but plenty of student midwives treat themselves too. You deserve it.

Is each one exactly the same?

Because these are handmade and stamped individually into clay, each one will be slightly different. That's part of what makes them special.

Does it come with a card?

Yes, I include a little card with every token. If you'd like a card with space to write your own message, you can add on an A7 greetings card with my 40 births illustration and envelope.
