MEWS & NEWTT2 Reference Cards
MEWS & NEWTT2 Reference Cards

Double-sided A7 clinical reference cards designed by me with my colourful art to support student midwives on placement with Maternity Early Warning System and Newborn Early Warning Track and Trigger 2.
I've been VERY careful to take accurate information from NHS guidelines for the MEWS parameters and NEWTT2 newborn scoring. They are printed cards (not waterproof) so I'm offering with a clear A7 vertical plastic sleeve - made to clip straight onto your badge reel or lanyard. I created these pocket reference cards to give you quick, reliable clarity when you’re on a busy shift.
I've noticed others online have errors which is quite worrying as these are designed for clinical use, and I'd like to assure you that I've done everything I can to make sure these are accurate and easy to read.
To avoid unnecessary plastic use, clear wallets are optional. If you already have a lanyard pouch, you can order the cards on their own to save plastic.
FOR MOTHERS
"Maternity Early Warning Score (MEWS) is a clinical tracking tool used by midwives and doctors to monitor the vital signs of pregnant, labouring, and postnatal women, identify early signs of physical deterioration, and prevent serious complications or mortality."
FOR BABIES
"NEWTT2 stands for Newborn Early Warning Track and Trigger 2, an updated clinical practice framework and observation chart developed by the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM), to track vital signs and spot signs of clinical deterioration in newborns early to reduce severe illness and admissions to the neonatal unit."
Choose Your Cards
- MEWS Card Only: Maternal Early Warning Score table on the front, with escalation and response matrix on the back.
- NEWTT2 Card Only: Newborn Early Warning Track & Trigger 2 scoring grid on the front, with action triggers on the back.
- Both Cards (Set of 2): Maternal and neonatal set for your lanyard.
- Optional Clear Badge Wallet: Wipeable clear pouch designed to hold your cards securely on your badge reel alongside your ID.
Can you actually read them?
Yes! I decided to make A7 rather than other cards which are smaller, so you'd be able to read them more easily. I tried to design the layout carefully so that everything is clear and easy to read at a glance, even though each card fits a lot in. No squinting required!
Perfect for:
- Student midwives on placement
- Maternity support workers
- Midwifery students revising for OSCEs
- Anyone starting out in a maternity setting
- A thoughtful and practical gift for a new student midwife
