Big rainbow abstract placenta original canvas painting by Hannah Thomas.
This painting came from my hands, my story, my evolution. It reflects my growth as a mother, an artist, a woman brave enough to make big, bold things even when they’re not tidy.
When I first started painting, everything was small. The brushes, the paper, the lettering. Everything was tentative, cautious.
I liked watercolour, because it felt safe.
It flowed and blurred and didn’t need precision - you couldn’t really get it 'wrong'.
Over the last three years I’ve become bolder. Larger brushes. Larger paper. More texture. More mess. And realised that precision doesn't mean anything anyway!
When Shaun bought me this huge canvas, I let it sit for a while and decided not to wait for the 'perfect' idea.
I just got out my glue gun and had fun!
Under the rainbows is a yellow and purple acrylic pour with cells - just for play.
I painted over it anyway and now it's left an interesting texture beneath the colours 😄
I had a placenta in mind, but in the end - it’s just shapes, isn’t it?
Just colours, textures, and forms, shifting and layered.
A special painting to honour the amazing placenta that was our first best friend in the womb.
24 x 36"
Made with acrylic paints, hot glue and gold pen.
