I designed this A5 Student Midwife Pharmacology Logbook to be your pocket companion for clinical placement shifts, university modules, and OSCE revision.

I made this student midwife pharmacology log book after a student midwife reached out to me, frustrated that every pharmacology logbook on the market was made for general nursing.

So I made this booklet to be a helpful companion throughout your midwifery training - on placement, in university, and during revision. Calculations, drug classifications, and clinical guidelines can feel overwhelming, but building your own active reference guide turns complex pharmacology into clear, manageable knowledge.

What this book can help you with!

  • A working learning tool: Fill out each log page as you encounter new medications during placement shifts or pharmacology lectures. Writing down the indications, monitoring needs, and dosages by hand reinforces your active learning and memory.
  • A quick shift reference: Keep this logbook with you on placement. With your own neat, shorthand notes and local Trust guidelines on hand, you can quickly double-check care considerations and monitoring requirements on the ward.
  • Your revision partner: When exam season and OSCEs approach, you won't need to dig through massive textbooks or scattered lecture slides - you will have a complete, personalised revision guide tailored directly to your learning style and NHS standards.

Midwifery care involves unique competencies, legal exemptions, and maternity-specific monitoring - so I was glad to design one purely for student midwives! Every illustration in this 64-page booklet was originally hand-painted in watercolour and ink, paired with structured clinical grids tailored directly to UK midwifery competencies, NHS Trust standards, and NMC guidelines.

What i've included:
50 Guided Drug Log Pages: Dedicated templates for you to record indications, dosage calculations, routes, maternal/fetal side effects, and monitoring requirements step-by-step.

Maternity Area: tick boxes to indicate every stage that the drug is used in maternity care.

Midwives’ Exemptions Checkboxes: Includes tick boxes so you can quickly note whether a drug falls under UK Midwives' Exemptions legislation for independent administration.

Breastfeeding & Safety Prompts: Sections for contraindications, high-risk safety checks, and nursing safety considerations.

Numbered Drugs Index: A 50-slot index at the front so you can organize your notes and look up medications instantly during a busy ward shift.

Calculations & Formula Workspace: Quick reference pages for unit conversions, microgram rules, infusion formulas, and grid space for working out dosage math.

On the log pages:
- Drug names
- Drug classification
- Maternity stage
- Indications & maternity uses
- Midwifery care & monitoring
- Standard doses, routes & frequency
- Side effects
- Safety & contraindications
- Notes, calculations & Trust guidelines
