Student Midwife A4 Reflection Journal: 100 Guided Pages

I made you this A4 student midwife journal so you’d have a colourful space to record your experiences on placement - and help you take time to settle your energy and reflect when you get home from a long day.

Although I’m not a midwife myself (just an arty mummy who loves birth!) - when I heard from student midwives about how important reflection is for your learning, I wanted to make you something that felt supportive and fun to fill in and keep.

Inside, you’ll find prompts based on commonly-used reflective models. These are here to give you structure if you need it, but the way you use this is entirely up to you! You can use these pages to reflect on any day or event that feels important, including births you’ve supported.

At the bottom of each reflection page I’ve put a blank face with an invitation to draw how you’re feeling about the day or the event - plus boxes 1-10 to score how it went.

For confidentiality, please don’t include any names or identifying details about the women you support. Instead you can keep the focus on you - what you did, how you felt, and what you’re learning as you grow into your future role as a midwife.

I hope this becomes a useful tool during your studies and a keepsake to look back on with pride at how far you’ve come! p.s. this book is just for you, please don’t copy, scan or share.
