Crossing off the 40 vaginal births required to qualify as a midwife is a big deal! So I have made these handmade clay keepsakes to give as a gift to a midwife to be - or to treat yourself.
This token is a keepsake to honour your first 40 births! It’s not just to celebrate reaching a big milestone in your training - but also marking the beginning of your journey as a midwife, and all the lives you will touch in future.
I designed the stamp design, and had it 3D printed so I could stamp into clay. Once dried and varnished, I applied gold leaf to the edges and attached a cork disc to the bottom of the plaque.
The keepsake plaque measures 6cm wide and a few mm thick. Each will be slightly different as they are handmade. A natural cork disc is attached to the base, so the plaque can sit flat on a shelf or surface without scratching.
Delivered for free in the UK, wrapped with love in tissue with bonus freebies.
I also printed out a little note to go with it that says:
Congratulations 40 Births
This token is a keepsake to honour your first 40 births! It’s not just to celebrate reaching a big milestone in your training - but also marking the beginning of your journey as a midwife, and all the lives you will touch in future.
If you'd like a bigger card with space to write a message, I have created a 40 births greetings card too.
What is a good gift for a student midwife reaching their 40 catches?
A handmade keepsake is a really meaningful way to mark the 40 births milestone. I made this token specifically for that moment - something that can sit on a shelf and remind a newly qualified midwife of where their journey began.
What does 40 catches mean in midwifery?
Student midwives in the UK are required to attend and participate in a minimum of 40 vaginal births as part of their NMC training requirements. Reaching 40 catches is a significant milestone on the road to qualification.
Is this suitable as a gift or just for yourself?
Both! Many people buy this as a gift for a student midwife who has just reached their 40 births, but plenty of student midwives treat themselves too. You deserve it.
Is each one exactly the same?
Because these are handmade and stamped individually into clay, each one will be slightly different. That's part of what makes them special.
Does it come with a card?
Yes, I include a little card with every token. If you'd like a bigger card with space to write your own message, you can add on an A6 or A7 greetings card with my 40 births illustration and envelope.
