The Heart of my Midwifery Art: Inside my Student Midwife September Planner
Share

You are the heart behind my midwifery art. From my kitchen table to your placement bag, see how I turn your real-life stories into illustrations that support you.
Last year I made my first student midwife planner - and I made it undated, to suit all intakes - because I wasn't sure how well it would go and felt nervous to commit to dated planners. But thankfully it was very well received! So I decided to make my first September student midwife planner.

I wanted it to be special, and have lots of my my art in - so I asked student midwives if they would like to share some of their moments from their training, so I could include drawings based on real student midwives in the planner.

Thank you so much to everyone who takes the time to share with me and give feedback on new designs, it really means a lot to my small business, and helps me make products that you will find helpful and useful!

So when you buy my planner, you are choosing something that has been made with love - and printed sustainably in the UK in small batches, from a mummy who really does care about you and the birth world.

Making pretty things out of messy surroundings
Firstly I am a mother - and then I am an artist, and my heart is constantly inspired by the midwifery community and birth world. I see the resilience, the late-night sacrifices, and the profound, quiet beauty in the work you do. I do not just create these pieces as products. I create them as a way to say that I see you and I appreciate you.

The Creative Process
I unfortunately do not have a pretty little studio space to make things! I am a full-time home-ed mummy, so I do all my painting on our kitchen table, usually while my girls shout and jiggle the table! I paint around the mess, the piles of books, and the daily rhythm of family life.

There is something special about creating these illustrations in the same space where we eat, learn, and grow together. The same juggle so many of you are navigating as you balance your midwifery studies with everything else life throws at you. When you see my art, you are seeing work that was born in the middle of real, everyday life.

The artwork you see in my collections, the late-night cups of tea, the skills lab reflections, and the shared joy of welcoming new life, is deeply personal to me because it is born from your stories. I have reached out to students just like you to share their real-life moments, and I have turned those snapshots into the illustrations you see today. It was my way of keeping your voice at the centre of my designs.

A Constant Companion
Whether you are just starting your journey or you are nearing the end of your studies, I want my art to be a companion for you. I hope that when you hold a piece of my work, you feel a sense of support and the knowledge that you are doing something incredibly important.
Thank you for letting me be a small part of your journey.

If you would like to see more of the work I am currently creating, you can explore my student midwife shop . And if there is a moment in your midwifery journey you would love to see turned into a piece of art, I would love to see it.
P.S. If you are preparing for your upcoming academic year, I have put a lot of that same care and community-sourced inspiration into my student midwife essentials
